    Hello,

    I friend burned 13 jpeg's using nero 7 onto a CD. When i look at the CD these pictures are part of a VCD from what i can see.

    cd includes folders:
    cdi
    ext
    mpegav
    segment
    vcd

    All pictures are in the SEGMENT folder, stored as pic1.dat, pic2.dat and so on.

    He can only view these pictures on a standalone DVD player, not on his PC. he wants to rip them from the CD and put them back to jpeg format. is this possible, i've tried a lot already and had no luck.

    every program i used seems to not recognize the images or be able to convert them.

    thank you very much for any help,

    Neil

  2. I think you can use VirtualDubMod to open the DAT files and then save them as images.

    File -> Open Video File
    Video -> Snapshot Source Frame

    Maybe playback/capture in a software DVD player (WinDVD, PowerDVD) will help.
