Im trying to convert a DVD to xVID but the file keeps getting bigger then expected. The video is 42 mins long so i think it should be able to get it about 700MB.
I got my xVID settings like this:
And my audio like this:
But the xVID still ends up like 1GB in size, anyone got a tip on how i should get it around 700MB ? I have never compressed the whole movie yet, but the projected file size is showing a bit over 1GB, and other time that has been a pretty good projection so i have aborted each time.

Either let it complete or abort it, and then open it in GSpot and check the audio. My guess is it's not creating MP3 audio for you, but WAV audio, thus bloating the file size. If true, you have 2 choices. One would be to extract the audio and convert it separately, like with BeSweet, and mux it in afterwards. The other would be to take Baldrick's suggestion and use AutoGK (or some other all-in-one app) and let it do the job for you. AutoGK uses BeSweet. As Baldrick says, the bitrate is correct, but running one pass for a fixed bitrate (i. e., CBR encoding) is a lousy way to encode.
