Need 8.5 DVD+RW DL discs

Anyone know where i can purchase some DVD+RW or -RW 8.5 disc? Ive have searched everywhere and couldn't find any.

They're not available yet, although there are plans in the future to produce them.

DL's been out quite awhile. still no DL RW? what's with the lag?

As I understand the problem is compatibility and being able to play them on the average player. A RW has about half the reflectivity of a regular DVD and DL adds another layer of complexity. The cost to produce them probably doesn't justify the limited sales they would have. And there is no assurance that a regular DL burner would be able to burn them reliably.

The Blu-Ray rewritables have a 25GB capacity and seem to be about the same price as the DL shown above, so I don't expect to see many DL rewritable discs in the future.

Well, they're on sale here in Hong Kong for about US$5. Not much help for you though.

A lot of the major electronics stores in Canada are no longer even selling DVD+/-RW disks. I had to look at a dozen places before I finally found some.

It's probably economics, you can make more selling something that can be used only once versus something that can be re-used 100 times.

So as far as a DL-DVD-RW is concerned, I doubt that it'll even become available, at least not in Canada, given the rapidly disappearing DVD-RW supply here.
