  1. Brief explanation; I've transferred a favourite old 70s TV show into mpeg2 format and loaded it all up into Maestro. There are 6 episodes so I have created 6 movies within Maestro. I've created a main menu with "play all" and "go to episode menu" options, then an episode menu with a play option for each episode and also a link to a Chapter Menu for each of the 6 episodes. I have things set up such that Play All from the main menu does just that, and by using Playlists have it such that the end action of each episode goes back to the relevant menu depending on if it was started from the Episode Menu or the Chapter Menu.

    It all works perfectly. Except....

Even though I have "Disable Last Chapter skip" selected for all 6 movies, the chapter skip button on my DVD player still operates! What happens is that it ignores the connection routing set for the end of the last chapter and takes me back to the beginning of the same movie. This it does 3 times, before going on to episode 2 on the fouth time through, etc. I assume it happens 3 times because I have the movies themselves then the two playlists = 3 times.

My question is; why is the "disable last chapter skip" command being ignored? The same thing happens when I view the completed disc on PC using Windows Media Player Classic, although when I view on the proper Microsoft Windows Media Player, the last chapter skip is disabled and all performs as expected! Why is this? Last chapter skip is also disabled from within the navigation simulator in Maestro.

Is the disable Last Chapter Skip command ignored by certain makes/models of DVD player? Am very confused.

Ive seen the same thing before - it seems to be the dvd player , try another model and see if it still does it ... most of the cheaper "plays anything" type models seem to have this issue ..

It's a Toshiba DR-1 multi-region set top recorder. I will try it tonight on my older DVD player, and on a friends...

I have never used Maestro, so I am not sure how Maestro implements that "disable last chapter skip" option.

I use DVD-Lab PRO 2.0 -- sometimes I handle this situation by placing a dummy chapter mark on the very last I-Frame of each Movie title. Then when "next" is pressed, it will jump to that "dummy chapter", and then continue with the authored dvd structure.

    Regards,
    George

That's a hell of a good idea George, I might try that!

I tried the disc in a friends 4 year old Sony DVD player, and the last chapter skip was disabled as intended, so it is definately an issue of which DVD player you happen to be using. But as a catch-all solution, yours sounds good George.
