I've been copying a original DVD (Der König von Narnia) for private use by using the 'all-in-one' tool RipIt4Me. The copy process worked pretty good and I've been able to watch the movie on my PC by using the program VLC Viewer.
Now, that I insert the DVD to my home player (Pioneer ...), the DVD will not start.
So I compared the files on both the original and the copied DVD and found that the VIDEO_TS.* are missing (extensions .IFO, .BUP, .VOB).
It seems these files are processed/copied automatically, no idea why?
Any idea or better way of copying a copy-protected DVD (for private use!!!)??? I do not want to waist to much time in such a boring process...
Thanks!

Let me try to understand your post
1. You use Ripit4me to rip the disc to your HDD, and this is successful
2. You are able to play the ripped files on your HDD, which proves step 1 worked
I haven't used Ripit4me, so I have to ask this question - does it also burn the copy for you ? If not, how are you burning the copied files to DVD for testing ?
When you look at the files on your HDD that ripit4me copied, what do you have ?
Do you have a better software DVD player than VLC ? PowerDVD perhaps ? VLC is a great player, and can play pretty much anything. Which makes it a very poor choice for testing, as it will also play things that are broken. PowerDVD can be used to open files, so you can use it to play VOBs in isolation, but if you open a DVD from the HDD (one of the file open options), it expects to find a full structure in place. This would help test what you have.Read my blog here.

Hello Deutschland...
Just a note here: you can rip your own DVD disc for backup purposes with DVD Decrypter + running Any DVD or then you can simply rip it with DVD Fab Decrypter.
You can also follow these excellent guides:

Hi guns1inger,
1. You use Ripit4me to rip the disc to your HDD, and this is successful => YES
2. You are able to play the ripped files on your HDD, which proves step 1 worked => YES

=> RipIt4Me is an all-in-one-package, DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter and FixVTS.
I think, the burn itself is a step within DVD Shrink (Backup function).
When you look at the files on your HDD that ripit4me copied, what do you have ?
=> I've some files *.IFO, *.BUP and *.VOB, but NOT VIDEO_TS.* and for me it looks like as if this is a requirement for the home dvd player.

Thanks for the links, Cunhambebe.
I'll give a try to DVD Fab Decrypter, if possible.
Yes, of course you can watch the movie on a normal PC/Laptop - but I like to watch the movie on a LCD TV; like to have a multimedia station such as Dreambox 7025 or even the follower coming soon Oct.

The advantage that ripit4me will have over DVD Fab Decrypter, once all the kinks are worked out, is that it won't need constant updating like Fab does. You may have been caught out for being at the bleeding edge.
