Hi. I want to make an non-commercial (personal use only) NTSC 4:3 DVD that will use among other things avi screen captures of screensavers and winamp visuals. To do this I plan to use Snagit. I am wondering if it matters in terms of quality what monitor resolution I use?

The monitor displays what the capture card captures. You need to set proper capture resolution/stream in your software. The monitor resolution is irrelevant.

  3. Yes, screen capture utilities normally capture the entire screen, so the higher the resolution of the display the more data the program has to capture per frame. The higher the display resolution, the slower the frame rate of the capture.

    These answers are contradictory.

  5. ROF misunderstood your question. He was talking about video capture cards, not screen capture software.
