  1. I just bought the Philips DVP3020 DVD player because it can read PAL DVDs and transform the signal into NTSC. The player has a coaxial output jack and I thought that was the only feature needed to play the DTS channel on DVDs having this audio mix (a friend of mine has a philips DVD player and there's no DTS logo on it, but it does have the coaxial output jack and DTS movies work just fine). The SPDIF is set to ALL in the digital audio setup, but I hear no sound when I choose the DTS signal on DVDs with this feature.
I know it's not my audio system the one with the problem since it supports DTS (I also have a JVC DVD player and DTS movies work fine).
Is it THIS philip model the one with no DTS support? or there's something wrong with the player? I thought a digital output was the only feature needed for a player to support DTS movies.
Either way, I'm changing it back. I thought I'd ask here because there might be something I'm missing, like setting up something I overlooked.
    Thanks!

According to the specs that I could find, this unit does not support DTS, only dolby digital.

Also, keep in mind that the digital output (optical or coaxial), is also used for dolby digital output.

Check the digital output conditions in the setup menus. You may have to reconfigure for a bitsteam output. It is possible the unit is set for PCM and Dolby Digital only.

yep, I know. This model wouldn't pass the DTS signal after all. I changed it for a LG DK174G and I must say I'm very happy with it

    Here's a very interesting tip:

It's not that it won't pass on the signal, just that it doesn't recognize it.

You can test this out (I did with my Sanyo and Cyberhome DVD players):

Make a DTS-WAV audio CD and play it through the digital out. My Yamaha receiver "lights up" DTS no problem then.

Hmmmmm. Maybe there's a way to disguise a DTS signal so that it appears as a WAV.
    Hmmmmm. IFOEdit?
