I am new to using the Lagarith lossless codec. What's the Purpose of the "Multi-thread" Option when I go to configure it?
Thanks!!!!

I assume it's for those people with Dual Core processors, although I'm not positive, as I don't have mine set up yet, and can't test. jagabo might know. Didn't I already suggest you read the Settings.txt that comes with it:
Use Multithreading: This allows Lagarith to encode and decode the color
channels in a video in parallel. On a system that has multiple processors,
this can speed up encoding and decoding. Enabling this option on a
Hyperthreaded system appears to offer no significant speed increase, and
enabling it on a single processor system may slow down Lagarith by a
tiny amount. -
I never noticed that option before now, thank's for pointing it out. It does seem to work better on my Athlon 64 x2 dual-core system. Lagarith was always fast to write to, but a little slow to read. Ticking the "Multithread" option appears to help decode a little quicker on my system.

Manono,
Yeah, I did read the text file. But I still wasn't sure what the multithreading option meant. Because I don't know what multiple processors are. That's why I asked. -
