I'd like to capture DV footages onto the computer and I was told I would need a firewire cable 4 to 4 pin. My camcorder is Sony DCR-TRV22. I checked for firewire cables online and there were so many. I don't know which one to choose. Can anyone please suggest? I would really appreciate it.

Most computers have the six pin 1394 socket. Check yours to see which it is. Then you would need the six pin to 4 pin cable. Looks like this:
It may have the full size 1394 (six or 4 pin) on the computer end and a mini-1394 plug on the camera end. -
oh yes, i've checked my computer and it has 4 pin. i am confused which brand i should choose. any suggestion would be appreciated

The 4 pin firewire port on your camcorder should look like this:
And the 6 pin port on your computer should look like thsi:
So then you need a 4 pin to 6 pin. Any old 4 to 6 firewire cable will do.
edit- Not much difference in cables, they should all work. Although some are better quality than others, assuming they actually work then the results will be the same."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
thank you for your response. i couldn't decide earlier because the prices for these firewire cables vary: some cost as high as $49 while some sell them for only $6-12.
