I was just wondering what everyone's encode speed from .m2v(ripped from the dvd) or whatever the PC equilivent is to vcd. How many frames per second when encoding to a standard VCD(352*240) with about 90% quality. Post your CPU speed and fps. I personally get usually right around 6fps on my 450mhz Mac.

  2. Well, that depends on the encoder, but i'll give you the three programs I tried recently (for the guide) which i've noticed the FPS, well, first my system is a: Athlon 1000/266bus with 384mb SDRAM on a EPoX 8KTA3 mainboard
    Using: TMPGEnc - 12 to 14 fps
Using: Panasonic Plugin - 7 to 9 fps
Using: CCE Plugin - 16 to 18 fps

This is all from a DVD, and the fps is the maximum each reached on my PC.

It's sad Me and My fellow mac users only have 1 encoder that I know of.

  4. The quantity is not important, it's the quality that is
You may have only one, but the question is how it performs. we need so many, cause all of them together might be that one you got on the Mac

I have found a new encoder that runs at 17fps! Plus another encoder was just released today. I guess people are starting to figure out that there are mac users that want good software too!
