Does anyone know a program which allows the aspect ratio of a film to be changed. Hope u know what i mean, to make it a little clearer, ive made a vcd, but when played back on my widescreen TV i can see borders, which shouldnt be there. The film is in 16/9 but still has borders, someone tell me why.

you can adjust the aspect ratio in just about all the major encoding/editing programs including tmpgenc, Premiere, and VirtualDub...
...the way that I would recommend you to make a VCD with the proper aspect ratio depends on what software you are using to make your VCD's...if you are using tmpgenc which is one of the most common programs for encoding VCD's, then under "settings" "advanced" make sure to adjust "source aspect ratio" to be the aspect ratio of your original footage and under "video" "aspect ratio" make sure to adjust to the format that you want your final VCD to be in...good luck -
Are you telling me that using TMPGenc i can just put my vcd in, and just select a different aspect ratio and it will be fixed.
The thing is i dont want to encode the film again. it takes too long. -
I've never heard of anything that can change a VCD once it's already been burnt...accept maybe a microwave oven...I was refering to settings you'd adjust when RE-ENCODING...sorry

I tried re-encoding the vcd, but it comes out slightly blocky.
i guess there is no soultion to my problem.
Thanks for your help anyway. -
Some widescreen films, most notably those filmed in the 2.35:1 aspect, will still appear letterboxed on a 16:9 television.
