    the subject pretty much describes my problem. when i encode using the dvd ntsc template with premier. the resulting mpg crashes premier when i open. it. all my other files with vcd or svcd templates open fine.

    any ideas?

    Try frame-serving into a program like TMPGenc, and using one of TMPGenc's many DVD templates.
