I've decided to retire my Apex AD-1500 as my bedroom DVD player. Between the iffy PAL to NTSC conversion and its issues searching (FFWD/Back) on discs from DVD recorders (due to the flawed IFOs they create, IIRC), it's become a hassle.
So, can someone suggest a DVD player that fits the following criteria?
-Searches discs from DVD recorders properly. (Does the DVP642 do this? If so, I'll just get that...)
-Converts PAL to NTSC properly (proper anamorphic display, etc).
-Hackable to region free.
Optional:
-Plays DivX/XviD
Thanks!

You may want to specify which recorder you are using, as they are as different as standalone players.

Any discs I've gotten from standalones (Panasonic, JVC, Pioneer, Toshiba, and Sony recorders off the top of my head) have searching issues on the Apex. I've heard before that standalones create flawed IFOs when finalizing that don't always agree w/ some players.
