VideoHelp used to have a chat room, once upon a time. It was hardly ever used, so Baldrick got rid of it.

I remember there *was* one. I wish it were back.. but designed to
in a limited fashion.. for special assistance or something like that.

Anyways..

I recall using only once. And that was on account of needing some
special assistance with using a tool, (dvdauthorgui and Liquid217)
suggested that I pop in the chat room (IRC) where he would help me
out.. which he did, by the way. This was a perfect example of a
good excuse for a chat room.

(there were some issues going around about PH 'ing [post hauring] and stuff
being used to jack up one's post counts -- that was the theory behind
all the commotions, I think)

fwiw.. around the time of the issues above, I thought the Chat Room (IRC)
was the Offtopic forum. Anyways.

I'm not sure why it was taken off line.., though it could be on account
of the PH nonsense I mentioned above.

But still, it would be nice to bring it back, with some new conditions or
something, that would make things run less trouble-some, regarding the
above, for instance.

No one used it much. The naked geek then hung around to harass people and make all kinds of threats. I helped a few people using it but it ended up being too much work - the forums are much better.

However if anyone wants to setup an unofficial IRC help group or skype list, I'm happy to make up a sticky for them.

A number of people were using Skype a while back ...... there used to be a sticky in OT a while back, but it looks like it's been removed

A New Skype list is now being tested in OT. If all goes well it will be kept as a sticky and constantly updated.

There is but wouldn't work very well here. It's OK for a few people but the ones I've used don't work so well if there's a lot of people on. Plus it's very annoying to heaqr the refresh click constantly, they don't work like normal chat, it essentially refreshes the page every couple of secnds.

About the only advantage is it works with your phpbb username.

I think they take away from the forums and if people need extra info then they just make arrangements via PM. I've done it a few times

available you wanna chat for $50 an hour then you can be told anything you want to hear :P. If you want live chat via Skype then it goes up to $100 an hour but I can promise you will spend your money wisely :P
