YOU CAN'T COPY XBOX GAMES
Right now XBOX DVD's are burned from the outer circle of the disc towards the inner circle of the disc to prevent people from making exact copies of the discs.
All DVD burners right now burn from the inside to the outside.
You can't make a 1:1 copy of a Xbox disc and even if you could it would not play in your Xbox.
There are no modchips out there right now that allow you to play Xbox games backed up on DVD-+RW media. -
my guess is that it is going to be a long time before we see an xbox play an illegal game...
it doesnt even play cd-rs, so im assumeing dvd-rws arnt supported either. -
Thank you !
I really appreciated your explanation..

Come on - there is no software protection method invented by MS that hasn't been cracked yet. -
First of all, xbox will play cd-rw, dvd-r, and dvd-rws. That type of media was tested (by me) and works fine when playing movies. I have not yet tested burned games but im in the process! Who ever said burning a game onto a cd-rw is lying. Think about it......cd-rs and cd-rws have a max capacity of 700mb or so, games today are at lease 1gig or larger. I will let you know when i test the burned games on my dvd media.

I laugh at you bcz00
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Obviously you know nothing about the XBOX console and it's early stage of game development.
Right now most PS2 porst, usually from dev's like EA are just that straight ports and most of these ports are CD based, not DVD based. Pop any EA game out on the XBOX and right now you'll see that it is just a regular plain o'le CD-ROM.
I love how you think you're going to be able to copy XBOX games on your little DVD writer and think you're going to play them on your XBOX, brilliant, just brilliant. How many morons like yourself with DVD writers have already tried what you are about to do, probably hundreds. And guess what......you're going to fail just like the rest of them.
Unless you have access to a XBOX dev kit [sweet enclosure IMO] then there's no way you're going to be able to author an exact copy with your crappy little DVD-RW. HA
Where in the thread did it say anything about games on CD-RW, learn how to read before you make assinine assumptions. In fact you can actually author games on CD-RW and get them to play on a regular XBOX, several arcade emu's were already running games before XBOX even hit retail shelves; too bad the author of the m.a.m.e emu for xbox didn't release it.
Although I could understand that if he did release it the lamer population would increase 10 fold with morons like bcz00.
For any modder's interested out there, there are several XBOX case badges available at [lamers need not look, nevermind wouldn't want ds site flooded with questions like ........"bcz00 insert your own un-informed question here".

Does any know if the fact that DVD Writers/CD Writers burn from the inside to the outside is really dependent on the drivers used or the actual hardware itself or a combination of both. Basically, if one were to write a custom low-level driver (under linux for instance), can the Writer be told to burn from the outside in? I am not saying that this would allow a copy of an XBox game to be possible, I am just curious if anyone has heard of or experimented with this possibility.
