If you want simplicity, then TDA is the better option of the three you have mentioned. You can change some aspects of the menus (background images etc) to create new menus.
If you don't mind doing a bit of learning, DVD Lab Studio is a pretty good starting point. Te single VTS limits can be a problem if you have 16:9 and 4:3 titles, but otherwise you have a great deal of flexibility to design what you want. But you will have to be prepared to put some effort in to learn it.
DVD Styler is a mid point option. It has some good looking templates and powerful features. Maybe someone who uses it can comment of the quality of it's final output. Chances are it has a demo you can use to create a few test disks for yourself.Read my blog here.

ImagoMPEG-Muxer
but Nero will probably try to reencode anyway - it just likes to do it regardless of the compliance of the source.Read my blog here.

thanks for that.
but all the programs including that one appear to shrink the video ie it was 41 minutes and it has gone down to 24 minutes and the sound carries on ?
really odd. -
hi.
I separated the video and the audi using virtualdub then i converted the video with cce and the audio with besweet .
at that point i would put the 2 files into tda and it does author correctly however im not very good with the menus however i am very good with the menus in movie factory or nero
any ideas ? -
Well lets see with TDA you can use any image as a background, or have a motion background with motion thumbnails.
As an example I recently did a PAl to NTSC where I also encoded the original menu to be NTSC. I then used that menu as a motion menu. I moved the play all button to overlay the play movie, the movie title box with spaces to verlay the Chapter button. same with Interview etc. When I was done it didn't look bad to me. Only way to tell it wasn't the original Menu was that play movie now said Play all.
I have also done something similar with still images. Normally I don't bother to get creative on a single title DVD I create as I just set it a Play movie and do not bother to show the title Menu.
I did a Christmas DVD last year where I put two 1 hour shows on a single DVD. I took a dance number from one of the shows and used it for the menu, put the button for the two shows near the top where they wouldn't interfere with the dancing as it played. It looked nice and was what I considered a success.
Bottom line TDA may not have super menus as it is hard to use buttons other than what it provides but is pretty flexable in my estimation.

hey you sound a real whiz at the menus.
I have found a bit of a work around i think i am trying it now .
I am converting the .avi to dvd files with dvdsanta then i will author the resulting dvd files with nero and see how that works.
i do like the menu facility with nero it is very easy and looks good.
any feedback on the above would be of interest
