Anyone watching "Lost"? I rented the first season, rushed through 22 or more episodes within a 4 day period, and eagerly awaited the season premiere of season 2. My god... what a big disappointment this has been. Anyone else agree? They could show footage of people gathering food and cutting up trees for firewood and I would be more interested! What are the writers/producers/whatever doing to this show?

    ???

Personally I thought they got right back into the swing from the very first 15 seconds of episode 201.

    I still love the show.

It just seems like maybe there isn't much going on, they know it, and their stringing us along to make it seem like it has a deeper meaning.

    From http://www.thetailsection.com:

Okay, time to sound off. LOST is in serious jeapordy of jumping the shark. I love LOST. It took some time for me to give in and actually watch it last year because let's face it, the concept at first seems to be pretty mundane. And there were moments last year where you were saying, yeah this is pretty mundane. Then there would be one of those "OH, MY, GOD!" Moments where you would be like, I HAVE TO TUNE IN NEXT WEEK! I MUST! IT IS THE PURPOSE OF MY LIFE! Out of the five episodes of Lost so far this season I would say that only the first two had that kind of impact on me.

It is sad as well to note that the teaser for the next episode actually says that someone is going to die. There was actually nothing in the episode that would bring me back, at all. Michael broke off his search for Walt so there is no impending-one-man-against-an-army-of-Others confrontation in the wings! Imagine: Instead of the cheap death trick, Abandoned is really about Michael's refusal to back down against the odds. He struggles over the crest of a hill and finds a huge outdoor compound which runs into some major industrial looking structure built into the side of a mountain with a Gigantic Dharma logo above the entrance. But he doesn't care about that. He is just here to get his boy back. For the next couple of episodes, we let the audience sweat it out until Michael comes strolling into camp. Maybe with Walt at his side, maybe not. But for sure he has a story to tell. Nah, let's just have him walk back to camp and give up.

The fact that they are reducing themselves to relying on what has become a prime-time drama cliche to get people to tune in, is really kind of demeaning to the show. I'll be putting that promo up in a few hours so you can see for yourself.

After 28 episodes, LOST still gives the impression that it has a bigger story to tell, but no ambition to tell it.
    My sentiments exactly.

LOST is one of those shows that was meant to be short. A mini-series, a 13-ep series, the end.

24 got retarded as soon as it entered hour 25.

Lot of good shows have been ruined this way.

Sliders is another one that really should have only last 2-3 seasons and had an ending, not this 5 seasons of crap that ends on some shit cliffhanger.

When I heard LOST was longer than a mini-series, I never even bothered to watch it faithfully. what little I've seen was slow and boring. It jumped shark long ago.

Total agreement! I mean, really, how long can you be lost? Eventually, you find yourself. Yes, you may be lost to the rest of the world, but once you've become familiar with your surroundings (as they obviously are becoming) are you really eligible for lost status anymore? They should change the show to "Lost Plot".

All I gathered from that quote was the guy was so so on the series to begin with, so what does it matter what he thinks now? The show is fine. I promise its your imagination running away with you. If not for the few months break you'd be hard pressed to tell its a different season at all.

Never really got into it myself.

BUT I like the new THRESHOLD and SURFACE (CBS and NBC respectively).
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Surface is completely irritating. It seems like "Surface" tries to be bigger than what it is. So far it like: "So what? It's a reptilian mammal".

I assume of course your not giving this show away to someone who hasn't watched it yet correct?

On the subject of lost I think alot of people are having trouble readjusting to the slow pace of the show after the time off.

I wouldn't say that. I think that the first season was a good jump point for some bizzar stuff, and that season 2 could start getting into it and letting us know what's happening (Or some of what's happening). I'd hate for it to be a show where we know everything in their LAST season...that would make all the stuff in-between kinda pointless.

Surface is gay and won't be returning next season. LOST and 24 still are the best damn dramas on television.

  16. Despite the whole Walt subplot being irritating, I'm still hanging in for some answers.

Surface is pretty bad. I keep hanging on for something to happen. I don't think it's going to though.
