Hello all,
I’ve experienced a strange behavior, when I tried to connect my PC to my plasma (Samsung, I don’t remember the model) screen and projector (Benq PE8700+), using the ATI HDTV adaptor.
At first only the plasma was installed. I connected the plasma component input to the PC and it worked with no trouble. The only problem was the picture size, so I used PowerSrip, without understating what I’m doing, I might add, and the problem was pretty much fixed.
After a few days, I had to disconnect the cable and when I reconnect it I got no picture no matter what I did.
Now for the projector.
I’m using the RCA component inputs of the PE8700. I can’t get any picture from this input, when it’s connected to a PC by the ATI adaptor, EXCEPT when I it is configured to output 1280x720 resolution (which is the native projector resolution).
In this case I get a strange picture pattern. I see third of the picture three times in a 1280x720p mode (each third of a picture is displayed next to the other). I get a pattern of third of the picture six times when I output it in an interlace mode (to rows of three pictures)
I thought that maybe the ATI video card is damaged, but when I connect it to a plain 4:3 50Hrz CRT (Toshiba) using the adaptor it works (up to 720x480 in an interlace mode).
This mode doesn’t work on the plasma or the projector.
Has anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks a lot

Muliple side by side images is a sign that the refresh rate is too high if it happens on a monitor. Maybe it is the same problem. Try reducing the refresh rate to the external device.

If I'm not mistaking, the refresh rate can either be 60Hz, in a progressive mode, or 30Hz in an interlace mode.Originally Posted by Richard_G

Thanks anyway, I'll keep on trying.

Shouldn't it be 60 Hz in interlace and 120 Hz in progressive? I'm in a PAL country and my TV out runs at 50 Hz interlaced. I suggest you keep changing the rate and hopefully you'll find one that works.
