The discs are all standard purple dye on bottom. The color is only the print/label on top of the disc.

I'm on my 3rd 30 pack of the FUJI MADE IN JAPAN DVD-R discs from STAPLES and have had no problem burning them even though they have those multi-colored tops. I've gone through the first 2 packs and I'm on my 3rd from the 3rd pack.
However I do so hate the BLUE discs ... hard to read the BLACK Sharpie text I write on them.
I was at BEST BUY on Saturday and couldn't find a single 100 pack of the FUJI discs that said MADE IN JAPAN. I've yet to see a 100 pack that says MADE IN JAPAN. At least for the DVD-R variety.
Now I see this week the 50 packs of FUJI are on sale at BEST BUY so I'll have to go back and check through those although I did just buy a 30 pack at STAPLES for just under $10.00

Red isn't half bad either -

This week, they also have 16X Verbatims @ $10. for a 25-spindle. -

I just purchased the FuJi's (50 +R's 8x speed) @ Best Buy for $17.00 These are made in Japan and code as TY's 02's...I love them. The 100 packs of FuJi's both the - and + both say made in Taiwan. I use Ty's from Supermedia, and FuJi's and Sony's (made in Japan) from Best Buy and usually get my verbs from Best Buy. Haven't had an issue with any of these media types and they burn flawlessly.
