  1. Alright I have almost everything down with burning a DVD, except the audio sounds muffled and sharp during the video. Is there a way to get better quality with the mp2?

  2. Sharp and muffled are almost exact opposites.

Do you mean that the audio is sometimes sharp and sometimes muffled? Does it switch between the two at a regular interval, or is it random?

What is the source audio, and exactly how do you convert to mp2? What software and bitrate are you using? Are you applying any processing, like normalization? Have you considered AC3 rather than mp2?

A little more info would help you get better responses.

  3. Ah, sorry I forgot all that stuff XD.

I use TMPGENC to encode both the video file and the wav file. I first get the mp3 from the video into a wav. by using Virtual Dub.

And, no it's not switching between sharp and muffled, it's just sharp now that I took another look at it. I encode the audio to 48000hz, and the bitrate is 192kbits/sec.

And last but not least, I have the stream type to linear PCM.

  4. Listen carefully to the original mp3 audio and then the resulting wav file audio. Is any distortion or sharpness introduced at this stage?

Then listen to the resulting mp2 audio after encoding with TMPGENC. Is this actually where the sharpness is introduced?

If the wav file is too sharp, try a different program to convert the mp3 audio.

If the wav file is clean, try encoding the audio separate from the video using something like BeSweet. If the result is clean you can mux it back with the video after encoding. If the result is still too sharp... I'm not sure what to try next. Maybe tooLame or the tooLame plugin for TMPGENC.
