  1. I have some DVD vobs I need to cut a few hundred megs out of then run DVD Shrink on them. The only program I've found that does what I want is MPEG2VCR, but after I cut out what I want DVD Shrink won't open the files (overlapped I/O error). Is there a way this can be done or is it not possible?

    you can cut with dvdshrink.

you can't reauthor a new dvd from just mpg or vob(no ifos) files with dvdshrink. use instead an authoring tool like tmpgenc dvd author.

  3. I can't cut with shrink the way I need to (think of it like cutting commercials out of a TV show).

Also I tried tmpgenc dvd author, it was total crap! All it would open is the title menus, nothing else.

  5. I've never had any luck with remake. I'll give nv express a shot later and see if it'll do what I want.

  7. nv express isn't working either. I add the VOB files and it sits there on "analyzing media files" after it gets past the first few.

The only other thing I can think of doing is converting this whole DVD to mpeg, editing it and then re-converting it into VOB's, but then I'd lose the menus and chapters (etc) and that's even if that's possible as well.

sounds like those VOBs might be corrupt or incompatible. it's not always possible to take individual VOBs and edit them. i forget why, but someone here, with more expertise, will remember the reason

  10. I tried vobblanker. It goes through the motions, setting the mark in mark out to cut and what not, then it plain doesn't do it.

The vob's aren't corrupt, I just made them, but I think it's the directly editing them and then trying to shrink after that's maybe making them "corrupt". I have a feeling someone who knows what they're talking about is going to tell me it can't be done

  11. Reauthor in DVD Shrink
Load two copies of the "movie"
Start-Stop the first copy so that you only have the start of the "movie" until the begining of the "commercial"
Start-Stop the second copy so that you only have the "movie" from the end of the "commercial" to the end of the movie.

Actually I had to load it 3 times, there were 2 sections I needed to cut out, but this method worked. I lost the menu (oh well) and it plays a little funky now, but I think it'll do. Thanks!
