  4. Because DivX also acts as a .avi importer for Quicktime. Just because you don't care doesn't mean everyone else shares your view.

  6. For anyone keeping up with this, there's another beta there now:

    Now, the only components I have in my /Library/Quicktime directory now are the two new DivX Fusion ones, WMACodec and the AppleIntermediateCodec. I removed the others and every file I have plays in Quicktime with ease. Well, those and the MPEG-2 component. I'm a happy camper.

    Edit - course, VLC still reigns supreme
