Hi I am new to bluff and have done a search on bluff, so I realize we have a few users. Can any user tell me how to set up for ntsc 480x720 title. Under file> new> (nstc dvd or nstc dv square pixel) which do I pick?
My title will be imported into premiere>Tmpgenc>Tmpgenc Dvd Author. So yes the final outcome will be to dvd.

    Hi rikit,

Refer to the following screen shot of the app:

    www.videohelp.com/toolsimages/blufftitler_685.jpg

Including the icon / button with the "eye" character on it, it's the fifth button in from the left on the "Control" window (as opposed to the "Preview" window).

This button will allow you to either choose a preset, or dictate a custom size. I notice you quote 480 x 720 - if you select the custom size, you'll need to quote 720 x 480 unless, of course, you really do want it "on it's side".

    Good luck...

I see what you mean, and I picked a custom setting, nstc dv square pixel,
that gave 720x 540, I think that was what it was. will that work? Or do I need to input my own stting of 720x480? What will the nstc dvd give me, or when would I want to use it?

As the final output is destined for DVD, you'll want 720 x 480 for NTSC DVD. This will be for normal screen (4:3) and not widescreen.

There isn't a widescreen option in Bluff Titler, but you can do a custom size of 1024 x 480 with a ratio of 16:9 if you want widescreen.

Again, I'm at work so can't refer to Bluff Titler. Please post back if you're still not sure and I'll take a look when I'm at home.

    720x 540 square pixel is correct , not 720x 480

DVD 720 x 480 is not square pixels -- so to preserve the aspect ratio , they have the correct numbers --

    or you can use 640x480

@ BJ_M - The OP's original question was asking whether they should use "NTSC DVD" or "NTSC DV Square Pixel" for NTSC DVD.

So, based on that, does your info still apply? My belief is that they'll need 720 x 480 NTSC DVD. If I'm wrong, I apologise for misleading the OP.

my info applies and is correct - you never use 720x480 for text (square pixel) for DV or DVD (which is not square pixel)

@ BJ_M - Thanks for clarifying. So far I've only ever used Bluff Titler to create backgrounds (plasma lines, blobs, pictures etc.) which ultimately end up on DVD, and not much in the way of text.

I was basing it on DVD not being square pixel. Well, something learnt. Cheers.

Apologies to rikit for any misleading info.

Thanks to both of you. That makes sense the 720x 540. I will import the bluff project into premiere to to be my intro to my video then I will export the saved movie(avi) to tmpgenc plus(mpeg2) then to dvd author. I have convertd pictures 720x480 to use in premiere and my video is 720x480 also. I use 720x 540 preset in photoshop quite often.
