My friend bought them from Sam's Club. According to him, he had already five coasters in a row. Using DVD Decrypter and DVDShrink, the procedure were successful but when they won't play in DVD player and in computer. I am kind of embarassed because I told him that I read Verbatim is a good brand although I have not tried it myself because I still have hundreds of TYs and Fujis. I am planning to check the media code when I have time to go to his place.

More information is needed before you can rule out that it's the Verbatim media. What brand is the dvd burner? If you're burning with DECRYPTER make sure you choose BOOKTYPE DVD-ROM for DVD+R media that way the disc should be playable in most dvd players. In NERO you can also BOOKTYPE to DVD-ROM.

    It's more likely user error.

Yup, probably user error. I have used over 300 Verbatims (2.4xDL, 4x, 8x printable & non-printable, and 16x non-printable, not one coaster. All playback fine in about 15 different players.

  8. Yup, must be user error.
I love the Verbatium 16x ink jet printables from Sams Club. I use both DVD+R and DVD-R and haven't had any coasters in them. Great price too, better than buying online.

Does his player like +r media?
2 of mine don't. Try bitsetting to DVD-ROM book type on the next burn.
