  1. Hello, I have tried converting from DiVX to VCD and more recently SVCD, in the latter case following this guide: http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencsvcd.htm

The problem is when I play back the VCD/SVCD on my standalone DVD player on my widescreen TV. I preserve the 16:9 aspect ratio of the original, but when it is played on my TV there is a *slight* black bar at the bottom of the screen (it's not like a letterboxing effect, just very slight - but annoying). So I guess what I'm saying is it doesn't fit the screen properly. Also when I zoom to 4:3 the black bars at the top and bottom are disproportionate to each other.

Has anyone else had this problem, and can suggest how can I get around it? I've tried it on two different widescreen TVs, with the same end result...

  2. Hello, to give you an idea of how big the black bar is, I just measured it and it is just over 3/4s of a centimetre on a 28" flatscreen widescreen TV
