I am in a FanSub group which subtitles anime (Japanese Animation) and I want to have some karaoke in the beginning and ending of the video.

How is the best way to do this? Programs, guides, etc etc. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm not a noob when it comes to encoding and editing but doing Karaoke has always stumped me.

    - Thanx.

  2. Try look under subtitles. Or lurk around the IRC and look into AnimeOne, Toriyama's world, ANBU or Lunar anime fansub groups.

You can find the websites through here: http://www.animesuki.com/

Yeah, tried that. They're all being dicks. Can no one explain how to do Karaoke on a video? Hardcoded Karaoke?

I'm really stuck on this, if someone could point me in the direction of a good program then that would be cool.

    - Thanx.

    Hi Fukushuu:

My friend uses Karaoke Builder Studio. You can view a sample at his site:

    Good luck to your project!

Each time the character was said the text would change colour and do this echo effect...I'm trying to learn how to do it but the internet is not very helpful with this :/.

  6. If you have Adobe After Effects 6.x, it is a piece of cake

Yeah, I downloaded it and you're right. Lots of text effetcs and a lot of them are presets ^^. Can anyone explain the time thing in After Effects and Premiere? They both have the same wierd time thing. The timer will only go up to 1/2 a second (0.29) and then it goes to 1 second. Where's the time inbetween 1/2 sec and 1 sec???

  8. NTSC is 29.97 frames therefore the "weird thing" In After Effects, all you have to do is create a new text layer and keyframe the text change, everytime you want to create a new word.

Omg...after effects is sooo pissing me off. I'm putting some text on a video so I'm previewing it but the timeline is so compact - because the show is 40 mins long. Is there anyway to make the timeline more lookable? Like space it out so I can time exactly?

My main problem is timing because the layout of the timeline isn't that appealing. Can anyone help?

Here is how I figured it out.. after hours of googling.. I designed my own way.
Tools I used: Premiere Pro, for text get the blufftitler and you will love it's ease of use and all the sweet things it can do, it also exports out AVI, which in a minute you will learn that too.

Import your music file into premiere and drop it on the audio timeline.

Do some titles in blufftitler and export out as AVI uncompressed 29.97 fps.

Import those exported titles into premiere pro and drop them on the timeline, adjust, export and wah lah!

    Hope that helps

oh and hey, if you wanted to make a recording of you singing over a song, here is how I did it, I plugged in my headphones and killed the speakers, got my mic, played the song in winamp, recorded in cool edit pro, you can use windows recorder located at start>all programs>accessories>entertainment>Sound Recorder
Now just record yourself singing and then it's just a matter of dropping the audio and song on the timeline, adjust and export.
