No sound after i rip a dvd

hi, im ripping certain chapters of a dvd, i used dvd shrink to back up the dvd into a folder in my comp. when i open my editing software(ulead) i need to edit the chapter. i imported the video file there is no sound output. help pls.

I'm just guessing because you haven't stated the audio format of the DVD or the particular Ulead software you are using. The DVD probably has AC3 audio, and whichever Ulead software you are using probably doesn't support AC3. Use GSpot to determine your audio specs.

so if ulead does not support ac3 i wont be able to edit it with sound? ulead video studio 8. if i use dvd decrypter would it be the same? with no sound? sorry i am really trying to follow the tutorials but i just cant get it. cause what i am doing is not exact with the tutorials

Forget Ulead, I'd highly recommend TMPG DVDAuthor! Easy and gives you warnings before you begin!

well i loaded the file i got from dvd decrypter and ulead did recognised it as an ac-3a but gspot shows n.a. on the audio and mpg on video. does that mean i did not get the audio?>i tried selecting almost all the files in the folder where i decrypted the dvd and gspot always says n.a. on audio.
