  1. Ok, I have been having some problems with A/V sync issues with my DV500. Anytime I try to capture an old homemade VHS (sometimes even an old factory VHS) I have major sync issues. I contacted Pinnacle and they had no solution as my system was already optimized for the best performance with IRQ set to 9, sole 7200rpm HD just for capturing, 512 ram, PIV 1.4 ghz cpu etc etc. I ran across many similar issues on their forum with no good solutions...very displeased because of the amount of money I spent on this card!!

I have some question regarding my new capture card. I am currently debating between a ATI AIW Radeon 7500 and a Dazzle Video Creator II. I pretty much only make MPEG2 DVD files with bitrates around 2300-3000. Real time MPG capture would definately a bonus but alot of my source VHS have serious distortions that I usually clip out using VDub or TMPG when encoding. If anyone knowsthe answers to any of these questions please help!

    1. Does DVC II allow cliping of video when capturing directly to MPEG2?

    2. Is teh DVC able to capture to uncompressed AVI in case I want to spend the time encoding?

    3. Does the ATI AIW have to be used as the systems video card or can I just use it for capturing an keep my current video card?

Thats all I can think of right now. I am also curious as to which people suggest overall from what they have heard. I have read all the comments in the capture card review section and they seem pretty even. Also, if anyone knows a solution to teh DV500 problem, please pass it along!! :P

Thanks for any input you may have!

  2. I have both a ALL IN WONDER RADEON and the DAZZLE 2. Both card's are buggy but you can get both card's to work with out any problems. Use windows 2000 trust me on this I was useing 98SE with lock up's before. Dazzle has AMD problems it the chip set on the mother board I have a AMD with no problems go here if you think you might have a problem with a mother board

The dazzle useing Hard ware where the AIW use's you CPU to do all the work. The Dazzle does have better sound. So dazzle win there and its a great MPEG 2 recorder no need to capture AVI files. I know one person I talk to that would capture to S-VHS then re capture it to AVI with his capture then rencode it with TMPG to SVCD a wast of time Dazzle has very or at all no blockness in it's MPEG 2 and it look's better then does the AVI capture and doing all that work. With the Dazzle there is a timer you can download so if you not home it will capture for you and you can get it here

Now for the AIW I have the old Radeon card 32 meg DDR last years card. One it has a bad tuner some cables station do not come in that well and the tuner work better on some mother board then other's. channel 25 had lines in the picture with capture software 7.1 with 7.5 the channel does not come in. Some times to get a channel to work you want channel 10 got to 9 then to 10 and 11 then go back down now the channel now work's. if you want to save some money you can get the old AIW and use 7.5 capture software but you have to download from some one ATI only gives it out if you buy there newest card's and it only comes on the CD. i found it on some website and got a copy for my self. So AIT sucks in many ways and so does Dazzle for tech support and other thing's. Toy make a SVCD you have to run the file in to TMPG just run the edit part it does all the work for you get the newest verion. I have not tried just editting a small part with out doing the hole file I will do another test later to see if that works with MPEG2VCR 3.11. The AIW can do DIVX files and windows media files also.

If i had to said what ones better now I would say Dazzle but this is the first time I start to like my AIW ATI make some good capture software only took them 4 years.

AIW with 7.5 now capture DVD format and the Dazzle capture DVD format also
