Is there a program besides Quicktime Pro that will allow me to capture a full quality image from a .m2v file.

There are about 20 stills (originally from my iphoto collection) in this movie that were deleted from my HD after a HD failure. I backed up the .m2v file to a DVD before the HD failure and they appear in the movie.

I want to retrieve these images, rename them to the original names of the photosmissing in the FCE movie and relink them so I can export

.At the moment I cannot burn the FCE movie because it is missing these items. (I believe I should make the movie self contained this time to alleviate the problem again...correct?).

    Thanks

    smurfy, you mean cmd-shift -4?

and didn't we already cover this in another thread?

Other than Quicktime Pro which would allow you
to capture from WITHIN the .m2v stream, your only other
option is use either capturing photos natively with the OS
( cmd shift 4) or use Capture Me or something that will
let you take screen grabs....but QT Pro is so much easier.....

and yes, again, you need to make the movie self-contained
once you got the pictures reimported.

  5. My understanding is that none of those built-in screen capture tools will work to capture from the DVD player window.

Here are some other suggestions (in no particular order):

    1. SnapzPro
    2. QuickTime Pro + QT MPEG-2 playback component
    3. Cinematize
    4. MPEG Streamclip + QT MPEG-2 playback component

The thing is, You cannot play a non muxed
m2v stream in DVD Player. Hence again, my suggestion
to use QT Pro ( and seeing as how you still
have to at least pay for the QT MPEG-2 playback component,
you'd be just as well off making an investment on the
    full QT Pro package.)

Yeah...it kinda sucks that among other things, Apple makes
this one of the designations between FCP and FCE:
FCP you get QT Pro for free included with QT MPEG-2 plugin
FCE you have to pay for it all seperate

If you've bought FCE for $99 with a new system then additional costs for QT Pro & MPEG-2 plugin can "kinda suck" less.

  8. You can open it in DGIndex, and then go File->Save BMP. That'll give you the unresized 720x480/576 image. I've found it useful for making movie stills for creating menus. If you want, they can be resized later in a photo editing program.

  9. But this is a Windows app, and look in which sub-forum you are

Is one of those tool able to extract screencaptures from 1080i TS streams?
My problem is, my display is only 1208*1024 but I'd like to do full res screencaps...

If every string breaks, I could remux my stream to mpg, but this would take my mac at least 45 mins for each enterprise episode...
