    Hi There,

I'm using a GigaByte GA7-DXR, all i had to do was to upgrade my Bios which took 2 minute's to make it XP compatible, although i'm still using
    and AMD 1.33ghz DDR CPU.

Haven't done much capturing with it yet, but what i have done i've been more than pleased with.

And GIGABYTE have release the GA7-DXR+ which is XP READY.

And it also has 3 memory slots where most of the others only have 2

It all boils down to your own personal taste, i went GIGABYTe because i was using a GIGABYTE BX2000 with a P3 600mhz untill i upgraded to AMD. And no problems whatsoever with it.

I'm sure everyone else will agree with me on this one, stick to the well known brands and stay away from the lesser known brands.

avoid the via133 and 266 chipset, but the 266A chipset is fine and the most compatible chipset out for the AMD xp, checkout the new gigabyte 7dxr, 8 ide drive support, usb 2.0, raid and built in creative 5.1 sound.

  4. Check out SiS745 as well, that is if DDR333 you have in mind. My buddy is cranking on SiS735 I'm cranking in VIA133A/686B, all I can tell is.. they're rock.

Here is the place that might help you a little..
    http://www.newegg.com/app/manufactory.asp?catalog=22&DEPA=1

ECS seems to be the best buy for performance.

  5. yes SIS735 is very nice, have 3 systems running it, and CHEAP too, ECS board goes about 55 bucks (USD). BUt I would go SIS745 if you can find it cheap. IMO, yes stay away from the previously mentioned VIA chipsets.

  6. I use the MSI K7T266a PRO2 thats the 266A chip set and my Dazzle 2 and soundblaster live have no porblems what so ever. MSI make two board one with raid controller and one with out it. I have the one with raid controller its an extra 20 dollars

  7. I'm not that poor by the way...just to poor (or cheap) to buy a p4...

if the KT266a is okay i must presume the new KT333 is good to!

  8. abit kr7a-raid (via 266a), athlon xp1600 OCed to 1.58ghz, and crucial DDR is what the core components in my new system are... this is the best comp ive ever owned... no conflicts and everything went smooth then installing and its very fast.

  9. Hi

The best motherboard would be the: Soyo K7V Dragon Plus, I have just ordered mine @ $200.00, I should get it in a couple of days, I will put a Athlon xp2000 in it.

Heres a link to a reveiw of it:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/mainboard/01q4/011126/kt266a_nforce-12.html

this site tested it against 13 other motherboards and this won[/url]
