Before I ask the questions, please keep the following two things In mind...
1. I will use ANY program you recommend (including a freeware, to a program that costs 99 TRILLION dollars)
2. If your method works, I will give you the full versions of ANY programs/games you want (FREE)!

Ok...
(I have 25 avi movies) I used vdub to xtract the wav from an avi file...
6 outta the 25 movies have no audio-sync problems when I convert them to mpg using tmpgenc... (dont say I am doing it wrong, cuz it worked for 6 of them)
The 6 ones that it worked on... were the ones that showed an error in the start of virtual dub, other didnt show an error, and therefore didnt work?!
Is there any way to figure out (in VERY PRECISE) miliseconds how much the audio is trailing behind/formward?
If there is, How Would I use that number... to push my sound back (or front)
Also keep in mind, that my avi file has NO soundsyncing problems... neither do my 6 mpgs that I converted the same way I did the rest of these...
If you can do the following, I'd appreciate it more....
Add me on ICQ or msn.. So WE can work this out faster...
ICQ: 123457456
msn: gdi_shooter@hotmail.com
(P.s.) please give me 3 days to get the program/game you want.
Thank you, and i hope to get a reply from you!

Message 2 all:
wouldnt you all agree that a site that provides this much detail, and this many methods to make things, and 1000 ways to fix audio sync problems, teach us how the hell to see (in miiliseconds) if the damn audio is forward/backwards! I mean... Look at the posts... LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE PROBS with this, and making a couple of guides in 3 minuets and stickin pictures in it... doesnt solve the math part of the problem!
Sorry if that soiunded rude... but... Come on...
If you agree with me, post a message here! if you feel that the people r "gonna get you" email me, to let me know u agree!
Thankz! -
First of all. . .
It is rude to blame this site for not having the answer for everything! Jesus H. Christ!!! Do you have any idea of the efforts that people make to keep this site running?? The moderators and experts on this site are doing you a favor by posting thier expertise and offering you a plethora of free software! If they don't have the answer for a particular problem, it's not their fault--the people who (incorrectly) made the stupid DivX rips are to blame! Audio sync is one of the worst problems that you will run across when doing digital video. Is it ok to bitch at drug researchers because they haven't found the cure for AIDS yet when they can solve almost every other problem?? That is essentially what you are saying when you flame the site for not having the answer you desire!
Ok, now that I have vented. .
This may or may not work for you. The only AVI I ever had severe audio sync problems on was one encoded with VBR audio. The sync rate was off by about 200ms (just my estimate). What I did was extract the audio to PCM wave (44.1Khz, 16-bit, 1411kbps or 48Khz, 16 bit, 1500kbps if your source was at 48Khz to begin with), then used it as my audio source in Tmpgenc. Since the resulting wave was the exact time as the video, and the same number of frames, this solved my problems. You can also use toolame to convert, then remux with the video stream after converting. Note that it is not as simple as this, and if this method doesn't work, don't spam the board with a bunch of flame posts, ok? -
Sigh... u still dont udnerstand.....
my avis dont give that popup error, but audio is still outta sync, so how do I know.... waht my numebrs r trailing by....
what NUMBER (in milisecond) do i sue to bump up / push back the aduio by?!
what do u want me to do? GUESS IN THOUSANDS TILL I GET IT???
videoguy79, thx for tryin 2 help... but u missed the point of m question compeltely....
does anyone know a website or a forum or a chat board, that shows how to fix errors like this on mpgs? cuz this website doesnt have the main issue, but it obviously has a TRILLION ways to make a fuckin vcd! -
Hello again--
My point was that severe audio sync is very difficult to correct--it can be irreversible or not worth the effort to repair if the file is really corrupted. If there were an easy answer, you would have known about it by now. This site has the broadest base of VCD/SVCD information I have ever seen, so if you cannot find the answer here, I am doubtful that you will elsewhere. Good luck and if all else fails, get a TV- out card (can be had for cheap) and wire it to a television set. That way, you can play the synchronized avi file without having to convert it to VCD and will thus aviod all these conversion problems. Not the best answer, but the only other option would be to actually purchase the DVD's.
