  3. I believe some - media is taking longer with no real improvement, but one person reported an improvement with some +. there hasn't been a lot of testing at this point. You can try it - YMMV.

it's not that great. in my opinion stick with either B7P9 or B7T9. B7P9 works well for me with the brands of media that i use.

Exactly, over 9:20 minutes @ a supposed 12x speed on -R's. The WOPC is limiting speed seriously.

I'm sticking with my modified B7P9

Hey just saw that newegg is selling a Benq1620 PRO? what is that? Is that just a benq 1620 with updated firmware. Should I buy that or get the dw1620 and update firmware myself?

PRO already has firmware for 4x DUAL LAYER DVD+R capability and software bundle. OEM is only 2.4x DUAL LAYER DVD+R capability but with official firmware upgrade to either firmwares B7P9, B7TP & B7UP the drive will become 4x DL.

There is a long thread over on the Benq forum at club.cdfreaks.com, you should go and read it for yourself. Some people have reported this problem with some -R media, other people are not having this problem. I am playing with this firmware, and have not encountered any problems, but I have only burnt 3 or 4 discs so far.

cross flash your drive to the "B" firmware.
download the WINDWFLASH.EXE file and B7P9 cvt file. make sure there is no media in the drive, turn off any programs running in the background then flash the drive in windows or if you want you can do it in safe mode.
here is the link for the files:
    http://dvdpro.club.st/firmware/BENQ_FW.htm

i cross flashed my "G" firmware drive with the above files and have no problems.
