Hello. I'm attempting to install some required codecs, but I have not been able to because I'm getting the same error that says, "Has not passed Windows Logo testing" (see this screen shot).

Some of the codecs I've been trying to install are AC3 ACM Decompressor, Panisonic DV, and Lame MP3 just to list a few. I'm trying to use VirtualDub to convert some avis and mpegs to DivX and it requires the AC3 Decompressor. Can somebody help me?!?!

They all work fine here, using winxp sp2. I just get a warning msg when install but I can select to continue anyway.

You need to be logged in under an Administrator account. You will still get this message box popping up, but there will be two buttons at the bottom of the box. One will say "Continue anyway..", and the other "Stop Installation." If you click on Continue anyway, they should install without any problem. Once you've verified this, please amend your comment on the AC3 ACM Decompressor tool - I run it under SP2 with no problems.

Edit - I see Baldrick beat me to it

Thank you Sir Baldrick. The link you provide was very helpful and aided me in installing the codec. Method 6 was the step I preformed to correct my problem. The only thing I did that varied from the instruction in Method 6 was that I changed the value to 02 because mine was already set to 00.

The only thing that still bugs me a little is the fact that I had to go into safe mode in order to preform the value change and codec install. For some reason when I'm in normal mode in XP, I am able to change the value to 02 but I continue to get the same "Has not passed Windows Logo testing" error without the option to continue anyway as I did in safe mode.

If you have any input on that, I will be greatful. If you don't have any input, I will continue to go into safe mode to install the non-compliant XP items. Regardless I'm happy that you suggested the link.

    THANK YOU
