I have an Hauppauge PVR350 capture card, which is great.
I record some old show by hooking my JVC vcr on S-Video output.
I find WinTV having lack of control. I tried Sage Recorder, it way much better but it have the worse sound capture and it also crash alot.
Is there any better softwares out there to specificaly captures video output?
thanks

That looks sweet, lots of setting controls, but seems to be not supported with my card.Originally Posted by W_Eagle

Also tried ShowShifter. Lots of controls but not much of I want. The video encoders compressor used seems to be poor and I don't see where I can change it. -
I have it installed on 3 different computers, 3 different cards. Each time I format C: and installs everything again it takes me some fiddling with it to make it work, I don't remember what it is. It is in "Settings" -> "Video" -> "Use Custom Settings" and "Use Compression" and "Colour Format". It will worth your while to play with it. It looks to me like it works with any card, at any resolution. Also, once it works, save current settings.Originally Posted by Jonz

Yeah but I just did a Windows Reinstall. There's basically only the PVR and drivers installed :bleh:
It looks it only support AVI format recorder which the pvr350 don't. -
I have the 250 card. What is the problem your referring to? Do you wanna capture raw avi, with Huffyuv? The 2000 control its self?. Titantv has a good forum for hauppauge cards. Pretty much specializes in them.
If your drive is to cap in avi, just use any virtualdub program. It has the capabilities to cap and even encode at the same time (not recomended). There are tons of guides here. -
How do you capture from the PVR-250 with VirtualDub? I've never heard of anyone being able to do this.Originally Posted by Stormin Norman

Yes, I was one of the people that told you that. But Norman said he had a PVR-250 and recommended using VirtualDub to capture -- so I'm wondering if he found a way...Originally Posted by Gargoyle

Actually my bad, I have the WinTV-PVR-PCI model 880. I bought that card specifically to cap .avi in turn used virtualdub to cap whatever.
Quality is my policy. -
Try ShowShifter-2.10.2235
I found it much better than the newer version, easily change to any codec on your system.
Even supports deinterlace.Cheers, Jim

ShowShifter doesn't list the Hauppauge PVR 150/250/350/USB2 as supported at their site. Few capture programs will work with the PVR series because most of them are designed to work with "raw" video devices, not devices that deliver MPEG encoded video and audio natively. BeyondTV and SageTV are designed to work with the PVR series. There is also a command line app called WinTVCap. But the WinTV2000 program from Hauppauge works pretty well once you know how to use it -- and once you know about some registry tweeks. Like the ones listed here:Originally Posted by reboot

Yeh...sorry.

I'm just getting my brain wrapped around wintv2000 for the Hauppauge and Showshifter for my BT8x8 based card. Confusion reigns
