Based on feedback I had heard I took a chance on Taiwan made and bought the MCC's(50 pack Verbatims) last week in BB. After 2 burns side by side the TY's have better PQ and faster start up times, I am returning them to BB today and getting the made in Japan Fuji's. They are ok but the TY's are clearly better. My Liteon 811s just seems to burn the TY's better.
For me from now on it will be Made in Japan media only.

This is retarded.
Changing media will not give "better PQ".
"Faster start up times" means the player sees
this media first. That is really not a quality issue either.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

For me they burn at 12x's with stick firmware and no coasters.
Speed and disc compatiblity with standalone players are why I choose them.
When the are on sale for 40 cents a disc they are the best disc in that range in Brick-and-Mortar stores.snappy phrase
I don't know what you're talking about. -
Load up times can certainly be an indication of lesser quality, but the Picture Quality thing is simple hallucination. DVDs are a digital format, need I say more?

I'd have to agree with load times, the longer it takes to read the better the chance that the disc will have problems when played.

By PQ I refer to a studder in sound and the very begining and some slight blockyness in the MCC disc.
I burned the same movie with both and watched the same scenes and I can notice a little more sharpness from the TY.
It also takes several seconds more for the MCC to begin playing when I press play both in my pc and set top.
This is only the 2nd time I bought MCC, last time it was movie reels 4X about a year ago and they were fine.
I will stick with TY or Maxell Japan made media, it aint worth taking a chance with anything else. -

I guess it is better to describe it as Burn Quality and not picture quality.
I stand corrected but still feel very strongly that TY is better quality media than MCC. MCC is good, TY is better.
Thats all.
