  1. Hi Major,
I've a problem with a S version of ffmpegX: always I launch the application it tell me install mencoder binary's.
    Have you a suggest?
    Thank you.

  2. Check the size of your mencoder binary file. If it is not 6636100 bytes, then download again the correct version.

  3. I had the same problem, it kept asking me to install the file each time I started ffmpegX and it was the right version, for some readson the installer was not installing it.

Eventually I unziped the file and copied it manually to /Library/Application Support/ffmpegX and that was the end of the problem

same poblem, using version R. I guess I should use S??? it sure is fun updating every week. my mencoder binary is 6636100 bytes and mplayer binary is 6583340 bytes. I've had to reinstall them every launch. is it a bug or do I just need to update again?

  5. I have no idea why this happens. In my case it only happened when I ungraded to 's' and not before. At first I thought it might be related to permissions so I tried installing it as root, but that was not the problem.

If you press cancel to the request for installation, are you still able to use mencoder and mplayer ?

  6. Thank for your help.
I've dloaded new binaries and its run good: I've installed 230105 binaries even if ffmpegX tell me 180105.
I see in the installation binaries panel that there isn't a option to install real binary: it's not supported on S version of ffmpegX?

  7. Sorry I don't understand what you mean by "real binary". All three instalation files (mencode etc) are compiled executable code.

There is 'option' menu in the 'S' instaler version but you can bwose and chose whatever file you want to install.

You can compile your own from the sources and optimise it for your hardware and OS. I noticed that the mencode that we are using is fairly old (over 2 years old I think) probably compited for Mac OS X.1 . Major will know about this. Personally I'll stick to the available binary for the time being.

    Cheers

  8. I meant to say:

There is no 'option' menu in the 'S' instaler version ... (etc)

updated to version S - no more prompts to re-install the binaries. all is well.

  10. Check http://homepage.mac.com/major4/download.html for instructions about the optional real libraries install. This is only needed if you are interested in opening RealVideo files.
