  1. is there a way to disable multi segment downloading in morhpeus/grokster? because I always find a person witha good ping to download off of, I will get getting 5-6 kb/s (i gota 56k) and then it will go into multisegment downloading mode and I will get 2-3 kb/s topps for the rest of the download. It's very annoying because my downloads take twice as long to complete

    My questions are as follows.

First, why would you WANT to disable that feature? It's clearly the best thing about Morpheus.

Second, are you on a modem? Then perhaps you shouldn't even be using Morpheus at all.

I personally find that some files I want to look at (large mp3's, divx) are absolutely impossible without ths feature.

For some reason, Grokster works better than Morpheus as far as downloading files correctly (without being corrupt or mixed up). But that doesn't help your issue. But who knows.

I guess the solution is, there is no solution... unless you get BROADBAND. (Morpheus/Grokster, even Gnutella, have a lot of "talk" to and from other users, it's really too much to ask of a 56k connection).

  3. i know this is the exact opposite of what you asked but i suggested this to a friend of mine on 56k who would almost never download a song in less than 30 mins. get morpheusX

by increasing the download from more sources it keeps your speed higher. Anyways, if you always lose the connection with the first guy (the one with the nice speed) there must be a prob. are you sharing files? i know when i see someone not sharing files i disconnect him from me.

  4. Just a quick one while we are on about Morpheus and Morpheus clones.

Has anyone ever heard of Refo Search.

Refo Search uses the same Morpheus software and when you launch it it pulls up most of Morpheus's graphics but it loads a lot faster and seems to be more efficient with the downloading side of it.
