  1. I was wondering if you need a Lite-on DVD burner to use KProbe or if it will work with a Lite-on CD burner/DVD-ROM drive.

I believe it will work with all lite-on drives (even rebadge), but why would you want to scan something that you did not burn?

Some, if not most, Pioneers are actually Lite-on. So you might be able to use kprobe. Alos, you can use improved liteon firmware if you want. You could also use CDspeed since it measures about the same thing

It works in the meaning that you will see some graphs but the results from Lite-On combo drives and DVD-ROMs are not considered to be reliable.

I confused Pioneer with Sony. But I was looking at CDfreaks and saw where there were posts with kprobe scans from pioneer drives.

  7. I'm sure the later revisions of DVDInfoPro can run KProbe type of PI and PO scans on Pioneer drives. I have a Pioneer 107D and I get very good scans using DVDInfoPro.

DVDInfo and Nero CD-DVD Speed tests are fine on most drives, including Pioneer. kprobe is overrated. In fact PI/PO tests are overrated.
