I have a laptop computer that has a DVD/RW drive in it. Is it possible to capture and decode a DVD movie onto my hard drive and then burn it using only this drive? Thanks for any help with this.

It is difficult to say when you do not have your computer details filled out in your profile.
From what you wrote, it looks like it is a dvd-rom/cd burner and not a dvd burner. -
Use DVD Shrink to re-author, encode and shrink to your HDD. If the HDD is formatted 'NTFS' you can rip a single ISO file to disk and if, the HDD is formatted 'Fat32', rip ISO in 1 gig files to the drive.
Use DVD Decripter to burn the ISO image.
Both applications are FREE. -
Yes. You could rip it first with DVDDecryptor to your harddrive. If the DVD is a DVD5, i.e., single-layer < 4.3GB, then just burn the VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS to a DVDR(W). If not, then you're going to have to get it down to 4.3 GB using any of the many methods listed in the DVD Backup section to the left.Originally Posted by paulek
Bozooka, It seems clear to me ... DVD/RW is not the same as a dvd-rom/cd drive.Originally Posted by bazooka -
Sometimes I find a disk that won't decrypt properly from my DVD-ROM drive so I have to do it from the writer, which is basically the same as if I just had the one drive. In other words, it's a two step process: decrypt (aka "rip") the files to the hard drive, then create the new DVD....
