Pixillation Problems

Disclaimer: I am only using the following process on dvds I already own. I do not intend to break the law in any way.

I have a Powerbook with the super drive. I use MactheRipper to rip the DVDs, DVDRemaster to shrink them, and Toast 6 Titanium to burn them. When I watch them on my dvd player there is a 3 to 5 second pixillation about every minute. Is there a way to get rid of this?

Try re-encoding the DVDs instead of just re-quantizing them.
It will take longer but should give you better results.

Or try using DVD2OneX or Popcorn instead of DVDRemaster, which suffers from quality problems...

What you mean by "suffers from quality problems" ? I've tried the recent v2 of DVDRemaster (Demo Version in Pro Mode) : except pixellisation every minute due to evaluation version, i've found the result rather astonishing... And i've not tried downsizer.

Compared to the same VIDEO_TS encoded with DTOX (selective/medium), i found it better. I admit a single film encoding is not the proof of the pudding, though... So i will continue my tests with other DVD and other DTOX settings (finally, i think i will stick with constant)

In fact, i hesitate between both not because of their quality, but because of their features : with DVDR-2, skipping bonus and creating a movie only DVD with original menu is as easy as possible (far easier than Galactica method for the braves ). On the other side, DTOX make it possible to split a 2 layer DVD in two DVD-4...

When I tried DVDRemaster (a while ago), it made content that had many glitches, whereas DTOX had good results. Maybe it was a special case of a certain DVD, and maybe DVDRemaster has gotten better. I don't bother with that anymore as DTOX has many more options, and has given me good results. If you're happy with DVDRemaster, then that's all that counts. I'll probably stick with DTOX, as that does it all, and always gives me nice results.
