its my first attempt at using nero 5.5
ive done exactly as the diagram suggest,on how to burn a svcd,
only problem is when i come to burn the file it says do u want to save i press yes and it saves the file as an image file instead of burning to a cd is this right

You need to select "write CD" from the file menu if you want to burn it.

it sounds like your CD burner is not supported.

open nero, hold down the Ctrl key and press R. this opens the recorder chooser. if your cd burner is listed then change to it. if the only thing listed is Image Recorder your CD burner is probably not supported.
check to see if your drive is supported here, http://www.nero.com/en/recorder.htm and make sure your version is current enough if your burner is supported.

i will assume you have used other CD burning software and your CD burner and its drivers are all installed properly.

right done as u suggest by pressing ctr and r key and my cd burner is there but its got a red circle around with a red line through
