    ...if anyone cares.

    http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Microsoft--Windows--XP-Home-Edition-Upgrade--8055298314...oductDetail.do

Full Version Retail Box with SP2 that everyone else sells for $200.

I don't have a CC nearby so I had Staples price match.

    EDIT: DAMMIT!!

That's twice in less than a week, requesting transfer to computer forum.

Must be ordered with hardware, a usb cable, or power connector often counts as hardware.

Gotta wonder about that. Why is NewEgg $45 higher. They're high volume. Are they really trying to squeeze THAT much profit out of it? I wonder about the authenticity of the CD from the site you listed. The COA may be authentic, but it wouldn't surprise me if you got a burned copy. Fully legal either way, but somehow I doubt I'd buy it. That's just me. I just bought MCE2005 with a couple systems I pieced together on NewEgg, but this may come in handy for older systems with Win95.

    Hello,

I just got XP home on my new Emachine. I plan to do a wireless network for my Xbox after the holidays.

What networking features are different in PRO???? Is it more lock out abilities????

    Hello,

    Thanks

I guess HOME is good enough for now. Though I may be in the market for PRO if networking drives me bonkers in January

Yoda - you should not have any problems networking using Home. The two systems I described to you yesterday were both Home editions, and were networked fine. Mine is now Pro edition, but that's because I need IIS for development work.

Biggest difference is you cannot connect to a domain with Pro. So unless you plan on using a Domain server its not that big of a worry. There are other difference for sure, but thats the big one.

You can connect to a domain. You just can't JOIN one. I don't think I've come across anything on my domain that I can't access through my laptop with XP Home on it. But then again, I don't take full advantage of my domain. Still, I can access drives (Connect as is a nice feature), printers, Remote Desktop into my DCs, etc.

  20. I got home on my system because I didn't know the difference at the time. a couple years later now I'm much more knowledgable but too late now unless I pay for an upgrade. I just finished slipstreaming SP2 into my XP home CD which is even better than paying for it again
