For me shopping on ebay is just like shopping anywhere else. You need to sort out item and shipping costs upfront to aviod any nasty surprises. With that said I have found that I'm able to get great deals on software at ebay. Also, I bought a 26-book learning to read set for my 4-year old son. This series had been discountinued and was no longer available (anywhere).

So if you do your homework then ebay can be a great site. If you're an impulse buyer then ebay, like HSN or QVC can be a problem.

Funny you should mention them - I just recently rented a DVD that features them (all live performances from the '70s)

    Those chicks could rock

Another cool all-girl rock band that was around before Fanny, were The Pleasure Seekers - a young Suzi Quatro with her older sisters.
They changed their name to Craddle...then Suzi went solo...and one sister joined Fanny in the mid '70s.

They helped inspire other all girl bands like The Runaways (Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Cherie Currie, etc), The Slits, Girlschool, The Catholic School Girls, The Belle Stars, The GoGo's...etc

  4. You guys are aware that many people use ebay to sell stuff that they order online (after you won the bid) from online stores and just pass it on to you (making a few bucks in the process)...right?

Shop around before you make any bids - you're probably paying more than you already should on those items.

  6. When I sell something on eBay, if the shipping is somewhat steep (via USPS or UPS) I'll offer to ship Fedex Ground Residential and refund the difference. Sometimes I have to purchase additional packing materials to properly and safely ship certain things like electronics, so the shipping fee may have to include that as well.

This is only for track listing - you can rent it or most likely find it for much less elsewhere http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6342582771
    Blockbuster has it.

It's part of the Let It Rock series - check those out as well...lots of great stuff on 'em.

What gets to me are people that auction stuff they DON'T have yet. Most of it's preorder stuff...& usually kid sellers.

On the other hand, usps.com lets you order 25 Priority Mail boxes for free, they now have a set rate $7.70 box, pretty decent size, one is shoebox size, the other a little bigger than a phone book.

The first time I used eBay I had purchased an Item from the States and it was shipped to Canada. I was unaware of what the shipping should be and his posted amount seemed reasonable ($17). When I finally got the item the actual shipping cost was $3.25 - totally unreasonable, I would expect to pay 1.5x to 2x actual to cover handling.

I called the guy on it and asked if he would like to resolve to over priced shipping prior to my giving feedback. He did and refunded me the entire difference (more than I was expecting). I then gave a favourable feedback response.

Soooo... you, as a buyer, have to power to give an unfavourable feedback. Sellers must take these things very seriously – too many (or even a few in a row) and people will stop using them.

This is the strangest thing I've ever seen on eBay.

    Read the feedback for sandys4kids

Check out the part about $1,000,000 bail!!!

Sorry to be long-winded, but I'll give a little bit of history while I'm here. It's actually a Credit Union, but we're basically a bank in terms of services we offer. Most people don't know what a Credit Union is, so it's easier to jsut say "bank" . RegionalOne Credit Union is where I work. It was formed when two Credit Unions, North West Country Credit and GoldCredit merged on 1st July this year. We have about 30,000 clients over 10 branches, all around Victoria.
    If in doubt, Google it.

You CAN display the shipping costs on Ebay:

Go to Customize Display and add or delete whatever you want displayed. As long as you are signed in....it will save that setup for you.
Shipping costs are also displayed in your Watched Items by default.

    Ooohhh. Ok. That was easy.

It still doesn't solve the problem of some particularly devious sellers who only mention their inflated shipping costs in their item description but not the shipping column. Here for example:

I guess those people should definitely be reported to eBay though. Not eBay's fault.

Anyway thanks hech, somehow I missed that new feature since I started using eBay in 1998. I will be using eBay a lot more now, if only to browse and not buy.

  16. I really enjoy eBay, and have been able to land many great bargains (and several unbelievable deals, to be honest) on all kinds of things, especially pre-owned audio/video gear. eBay is full of land mines, though... you must develop a good system of shopping, evaluating, watching and bidding. You can't get emotional about any one item and bid more than you intended. I find that almost anything you are specifically interested in finding and acquiring will eventually appear and re-appear on eBay, so patience is another key factor. There are also "waves" of interest and pricing on things... one month a certain piece will sell consistently high, then for some reason the selling price will go down for awhile.
