  1. Hello. First, here is what makes up my computer.

    900 MHz
    128 MB RAM
    40 GB Hard Drive
    AMD Duron Processor
    XP Home Edition
    ProSavage Video card

I have about 4.5 gigs of Harddrive space left on my compuer.

My problem is this. I used "Premiere 6.0" to render out (export - movie) 1000 "Targa" pictures. These Targa pictures are part of an animated sequence that creates a cartoon...these images were redered out from a 3D program called "Maya", their resolution is roughly w-1000px / H-800px.

I used the "export-movie" setting from Premiere and set the formate to "Microsoft AVI" and a resolution of "Width-300px / Height-444px".

My computer redered out the sequenc of images...however the entire final video should have been "10 seconds long"...my final video was 28 minutes long. Needless to say my video was slow and choppy. I am trying to render out this video to display on my personal web site(still under construction), later I will compress the video to mpeg format.

Is my computer just outdated...more Ram? Faster processor?

    Please help if you can

  2. I think it may be the same as in Vegas when i import images the defult for the image it somthing like 4 seconds, because i think it treats each image as a Video/movie/title. Now i really cant help you that much/ but you should look into the setting of the Comp. what it may be doing is making kinda like a slid show, only showing each image every 2 seconds or so. Hope this maybe will get you on the right path to success..

So i'm guessing that the targas are stills??

If so, then perhaps the default for your "stills" is set too high...
What does the length on your timeline suggest??

  4. Each "Still" frame defaults to 5 seconds.

Go to "Preferences/General and stills" under the "Edit" menu.

Change the 150 to the value you need. Else you will need to select each Still and set it duration { button lower left cornner of pop up window } Yep all 1000!

    n = T x 29.97 { can use 30 ) n = value to put instead of 150. T time per frame.

PS: XP and Primiere would like around 512mb of ram for its sweet spot. And a seperate scratch disk. Blame Microsoft and Adobe for that!

This may have worked for me...however this will not work with images that are named in sequence{ie. 0001,0002,0003,0004....}, Why? I don't know, that's what the "help files" from Premiere told me....and yes my images were labeled in sequence.

What I did was opened up a "new project window" and used the "Import-File" setting to import all the Targas that I needed. I use the "shift + left click" keyboard feature to select the range of Targas that I needed from my folder. For some reason Importing a "File" instead of a "Folder" allowed my Targas to display on my Timeline holing a duration of "2 frames" instead of holding a duration of "5 seconds"

Then I rendered out that sequence, rather quickly, and it was still not correct, the timing of my AVI video was still to slow. So.....

I imported the AVI clip into my project, deleted the images that were on the timeline from my first render, then placed my AVI clip on the timeline, and then I "right-click" on that AVI clip, and changed the clip "speed" setting. Then I rendered out the timeline {export - movie} to see the results

I wasn't satisfied with the results, but after playing around with the "speed" setting of my clip I was able to find a final speed for my AVI clip that I liked.

you could have just imported the targas into virtualdubmod and set frame rate and rendered them out as a avi ...

    works perfect every time ...

btw - render in multiples of 16 for avi if you can ..
