SF "Gentelmen's Clubs", or strip clubs. are very hard to confuse with gay bathouses. I lived there for 12 years and one gets to know these things.

There were quite a few on Broadway, down from Columbus. These are the most famous ones, like the Hungry I, etc. There are (or were) a few porno shops in the Tenderloid, like Frenchy's KT, but I'm not sure if they're still around.

In any event, strip clubs are usually very well advertised, while the bathhouses rarely had much in the way of signage at all, and were not in the same parts of town.....

There are places like that in Sydney too.

I don't normally think about such places as Mens clubs, Gay sex clubs and bathhouses or just Gentlemens's club.

Straight Gentlemen's Clubs or strip clubs are different again.

Straight or gay brothels exist too.

They are all there and do exist in just about any city worldwide.

Most are..... the TL isn't so bad. Last time I was in SF, not only did I attend a few of these clubs, I also enlisted the help of a homeless dude for some special treats 8)
Turned out he was pretty cool and appeared to like his situation...

They closed the bathhouses in the 80's, but they opened them back up in the 90's. Castro St., on the other hand, was boring since the end of the 70's.....
