I'm not much for ripping -- there are so few movies I'd care to see more than a few times, that I can afford to buy them all. I never thought I'd find myself posting to the Ripper's forum, but...

I had a bunch of DVDs with lots of chapters I didn't care for and a few I liked a great deal. I wanted to make a DVD-R with just the good stuff.

I extracted the chapters with SmartRipper, picked the ones I liked, updated their VOB IDs with Vobedit's "Join" function, combined them into title sets with Ifoedit, and burned the result to DVD-RW. Tested it in the standalone, and it worked like a charm, so I burned a DVD-R, also fine.

Aside from the loss of menu capability, the one thing that would make it perfect would be if I could set the parental control flag on the resulting DVD-R, so the player would ask for a password before playing it.

The free IFOEDIT tutorial shows how to repair incorrect audio stream flags with its hex editor, which suggests there's a way to fix just about anything if you know where the bits are hiding. It suggests you can get better docs and forum access for $5, but I'm not about to sign up with PAYPAL after the ton of spam I got from registering with Ebay. I had to abandon my msn e-mail account after that!

So, if anyone knows how to do this, or can point me to a good resource for it, please reply.
