Hello there. I have a SVCD disk, that I want to improve, by removing some clips here and there from it.
It is easy to do this in TMPGenc, via the mpeg tools, merge and cut, part, but does it reduce the quality everytime You do this? Like, I have perhaps 10 small fragments I want to get rid off. Should I then remove the first one, and then merge the rest with the remaining film again, and then the next one similar and so on, OR should I wait with the merger until all "division" of the movie are ready? I am a little afraid of doing it all at once, since my pc might give up midway, and I loose all the work. On the other hand, if there is a degrade in quality everytime You merge clips, then I want to take "as big a mouthful" as possible at a time.
What is the best way of doing it?
    Thanks -
    Ps.

No, there's no quality loss in cutting parts out of the video, do it as many times as you want. The editter is only removing parts of the video stream and leaving the rest. It remultiplexes the video but does not re-encode. 8)

One thing I would like to add is this...
...I now draw the line at merging anymore than four mpeg's (mepg's created *with* TMPGEnc that is) using the tool's function.
Anymore and I found I was getting sound/audio sync issues.
    Just my personal experience

thanks for the tips..I am working at it right now and by the way found out, that You gotta cut "a little extra", not exactly at Your desired "breakpoint", as it seems it maintains a little more of the preceding film, than were You did the cut.
Or perhaps it is my computer, that plays tricks with me.?!
    Thanks -

    Hi Ps,
Yeah, my computer plays tricks too, although it happens very, very rarely and when it does happen tends to be for an extra frame only.
I now compensate for it without thinking!
