    hi everybody
    i was wondering if anybody knows where i can get maybe a trial version of Pinnicle Studio 8 because i am converting my VHSs to DVDs and i already have a video capture card so if anybody can provide me with links to where i can get a trial or even freeware of Pinnicle Studio 8, i would really appreciate it . so thanks in advance to whoever can help out a NEWBIE . thanks.

  4. I doubt Studio8 will see your capture card unless it's made by Pinnicle. Also IMO Studio8 is the last program I would use after my experience with it.

    No problem I've found Studio 8 to be OK for capturing - not as good as Virtual Dub, but I have WinXP, and a Pinnacle PCTV PCI card, so I can't use Virtual Dub. But I only capture with Studio 8. I use Virtual Dub to edit/apply filters to my captured video, TMPGEnc to convert to MPEG, and various other programs to burn to CD/DVD. Studio 8 doesn't really have any filters to clean up video/audio, so that is why I still use Virtual Dub.

    So you use Studio8 to capture as an AVI file right? I could see where it does a good job at that and would use it myself but the program doesn't work at all with my AVer PCI capture card.

    Virtual Dub. Hands down. If you can use Virtual Dub, I'd go with that.
