  1. I had a Dazzle DVCII that I've used for the past year capturing and burning VCDs. I Would capture in 352 x 240 MPEG, use TMPGEnc to trim and then split into 2 or 3 parts, then burn. DVCII quit working, and bought TV@nywhere. Want to do DVDs now using the same process as before, only to DVD. I did one capture (It created 2 files, first one just over 4 Gb, the second was the remainder of the movie). TMPGEnc will trim the first file OK, but can't open the second. I've spent the past 3 days searching through the forums, and can't find anything relevent.

Just waiting on an Athlon XP2000 and another 256 Megs Ram.

  3. I have that card. The software will only capture 4 gig files. So it splits the file. I have the same problem. Tmpegnc will not read the second file.

So what you need to do is capture 2 seperate files. Not a big deal you have to join them either way.

My system is a little faster than yours. I seem to be able to capture at 704X480. You should be able to squeeze out 356X480 without a problem.
If you are doing full frame capture, 704X480 is a wast IMHO. 356X480 will yield a better picture than 352 x 240.

Keep in touch. I'm doing a lot of capturing right now.

    MMM... trilogy

  4. I am able to capture @ 704x480. Hence, the 2 files. VCD and SVCD are no problem, but I was hoping to be able to edit the two files somehow (join and then split near the center) so that I wouldn't have to do 2 captures. I capture from DSS and movies in the 500's are sometimes not shown again for a couple weeks. Sheet, why can't this be simple?

  5. I know, you want to leave for 2 hours then come home and hit stop.

This seems to be the only way around it.

Capture for 1 hour then, capture the last hour seperate.

  6. I'm sorry.

You are capturing direct from tv...

    Ah, I see your dilema.

    I was talking from VHS.

I haven't tried it but, can you autho the second file? If so, I have been toying with a workaround for long encoding.

  7. DVDit PE doesn't recognise the second part. Gives error message. Haven't a clue as to what other progs. to try.

  8. If it was an AVI file we would have lots of options.

Sheesh, we capture right to dvd format yet, we still have problems.
