This may be old news but I did not know about it. Anyone know anything about this program?

  2. Yep, check out further information here.

    Here is the FAQ

    And here is the FAQ.

Is Adobe Encore DVD available on the Mac?
The first version of Adobe Encore DVD is available only on the Windows platform.

Does Adobe Encore DVD support Dolby® Digital 5.1?
Yes, Adobe Encore DVD allows you to create DVDs containing Dolby Digital 5.1 content. However, the integrated conversion is limited to 2-channel stereo. Dolby Digital 5.1 content must be created in another application.

Does Adobe Encore DVD offer support for DLT output?
Yes, Adobe Encore DVD supports output to DLT tape. This is used when you want to replicate your DVD titles (It is possible to do this from a DVD-R disc, but less reliable). It is also required if you want to create a dual layer disc. A dual layer disc is an almost-double capacity disc, typically used for Hollywood DVDs. There are two layers of data on one side of the disc: the player focuses its laser at the first layer, then refocuses to read the second one (Have you ever noticed how some movies pause about halfway through?).

Does Adobe Encore DVD integrate with Adobe® Premiere®?
Yes, Adobe Encore integrates with Premeire through two features:
Adobe Encore DVD allows you to import markers from the Premiere timeline and convert them to chapter points on your DVD.
It also takes advantage of the Edit Original feature found in other Adobe products, enabling users to open the original project created in Premiere, and upon output, Adobe Encore DVD automatically updates the video content onto the DVD.

Does Adobe Encore DVD integrate with After Effects®?
Adobe After Effects users can do the same thing with Adobe Encore DVD as Premiere users. Open the original project in After Effects and automatically make changes to the project when the file is updated in Adobe Encore DVD.

Can I trim clips and audio with Adobe Encore DVD?
Yes, you can trim clips in the Adobe Encore DVD timeline. However, we anticipate users will use their digital video editing software for this. The functionality in Adobe Encore DVD is designed for last minute adjustments to start and end times.

Does Adobe Encore DVD include built-in MPEG-2 support? Will I need to use a more sophisticated product?
Adobe Encore DVD has very flexible MPEG-2 encoding built-in (integrated transcoding is one of its major
features). This feature accommodates users at all levels of proficiency, from those who don’t want to deal with encoding parameters (all conversion is automatic and the user does nothing), to those who want to tweak MPEG-2 encoding parameters in order to squeeze out the last drop of quality from the encoder (full access to the parameters, with save and recall of commonly-used settings, is provided).

Can I make hot buttons in different shapes?
The button images can be any shape you like. However, due to a DVD specification requirement, the actual “click area” for the button must be rectangle.

Can I kern and align text?
Yes. Adobe Encore DVD has many of the same text properties as Photoshop®.

Will Adobe offer education pricing on Adobe Encore DVD?
Yes, an education version will be available.

Will Adobe offer computer-based training for Adobe Encore DVD?
Adobe will provide a DVD with one hour of content from Total Training with each purchase. Of course, at the time the product ships, there may be other training options for Adobe Encore DVD.

Does Adobe Encore DVD support Windows Media® 9?
Since Adobe Encore DVD offers integrated transcoding of source files, Windows Media 9 files can be used in
projects. These files are converted to the correct format before making the DVD. However, Windows Media 9
output is not available and there are some limitations on the frame size and frame rate of the input files.

Does Adobe Encore DVD take advantage of transcoding/encoding acceleration with third party
    hardware or software?
There is no support for hardware accelerators in the first version of Adobe Encore DVD.
Will the software encoding in Adobe Encore DVD be robust enough for professional customers?
A few years ago, hardware acceleration was required because it wasn’t possible to implement an encoder in software that would run fast enough. Now, with today’s CPUs, encoding speeds are faster than real time.
Software encoders also have an advantage in that their algorithms can be modified and enhanced throughout their lifecycle. A hardware encoder’s features are usually determined at the manufacturing stage and are difficult to update. Encore includes professional-quality encoding, and we expect to take advantage of advances in software encoding technology as they become available.

Does Adobe Encore DVD offer selection of iframes?
The question refers to the placement of GOP headers in an MPEG-2 video stream. If you want to place chapter points exactly in the right place, you need control over where the GOP headers go because the DVD specification only allows the placement of chapters at GOP headers. Adobe Encore DVD has full control over the placement of GOP headers and will automatically add them in the appropriate location when you add chapters.

Does Adobe Encore DVD provide the ability to overlay tracks? Can users lower one track while raising another?
The first release of Adobe Encore DVD includes no audio level control.
    Cheers

Just checking out a screen shot of Adobe Encore and it looks pretty good so far. Not like the GUI of Sonic DVDit!. DVDit! is a capable program (and still learning from a trial V) but the interface is kinda amaturish. The newer Ulead MovieFactory is a little better. At least I don't have to minimize the screen from Max to get to my Menu bar. Sonic is going to have to update their more expensive product in order to compete with a monster like Adobe who intergrates everything. Adobe is also planning a student version.

I do hope Sonic updates their line. I think DVDit! was one of the first major authoring programs out there, right? And they probably made it with a home user in mind -great- but the simplefied UI need needs a little work now.

  10. Let me preface this by saying that I am not a MAC user. I looked a little closer and noticed it was the XP Luna interface (duh on me).

Anyway, another question: the system requirements say INTEL Pentium 4 processor (see current requirements). Is that just a suggestion or is it "necessary" requirements?

I've got an INTEL and an AMD, so it's all good. I do think the posted requirements are a bit confusing though. Anybody have any ideas?
